Background:
guernseymums.gg is the ‘one site’ dreamed up by Milly, Jane and Sarah. All mums having experienced the trials and tribulations of child rearing on the Island, we felt there was no single site that held all the information relevant to child rearing in
On the Day:
- We began setting up the Community Centre at 1pm with a delivery of 300 balloons which required blowing up! Thanks to a loaned air pump Laura and her friends did a fantastic job and got them all ready in time. We didn’t want any child missing out on a balloon!
- Our contributors began arriving and setting up their stalls and activities. We also had the excitement of a fire engine turning up outside so that the children could explore it and have their photos taken on it.
- Our helpers were armed with release forms to give out to our arriving public as we were offering a super prize kindly donated by John de Garis and we didn’t want anyone to miss out on the draw.
- It was great to meet many of the contributors to the event to whom we had only just communicated by phone or email.
- Just as 2.30pm approached, our guests arrived.
- At 3.30pm Jo Priaulx and Gloria Dudley-Owen kindly pushed the buttons and made guernseymums.gg ‘go live’!
- At 4.30pm we did the Prize Draw for the framed print of the photo taken during the afternoon. The winner was Kez le Pelley – Congratulations!
- At 5pm, the crowds began to reduce and the event wound down.
Numbers attended:
Approximately 500 people walked through the doors during the afternoon, made up of, 150 mums, 70 dads and 250 children! It was also lovely to see aunties, uncles and grandparents too.
We are hugely grateful to all our Sponsors, Contributors (listed below) and volunteer helpers (Claire, Karen, James, Jo, Karen, Kylie and many more) without whom we would not have been able to hold our Launch Party.
